Automatic Rescue Device (ARD) for Elevator — Safe Rescue During Power Failures
Automatic Rescue Device Bangladesh — Sheikh Elevator World supplies
and installs certified ARD systems for residential and commercial
elevators across Dhaka and Bangladesh.
What Does an Elevator ARD Do?
During a power outage, a standard elevator stops mid-shaft — trapping passengers and triggering panic. The Automatic Rescue Device eliminates this risk by:
- Detecting mains loss instantly
- Engaging the backup battery power source automatically
- Driving the elevator car to the nearest landing at a controlled speed
- Opening the door to allow safe passenger egress
- Resetting automatically once mains power is restored
No manual operation required. No engineer callout needed for routine outages.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an ARD be installed on my existing elevator? Yes. ARDs are fully retrofit-compatible with most traction and hydraulic elevator systems currently operating in Bangladesh.
How long does installation take? Standard installation is completed within one working day, subject to site assessment.
Does the ARD require regular maintenance? Yes. Six-monthly inspection and battery testing is recommended to maintain performance and BNBC compliance.
What happens if the ARD battery runs out? ARD batteries are designed for multiple rescue cycles per charge. Low battery alerts are triggered before critical depletion. Replacement batteries are available from Sheikh Elevator World.
Is ARD mandatory in Bangladesh? BNBC provisions increasingly require ARD systems in new commercial and high-rise installations. Consult Sheikh Elevator World for compliance assessment specific to your building.
